English

365体育足球比分Why study English? You may speak it; we help you unlock it. Master the power, beauty, dangers, and limits of the language by exploring the works of authors from William Shakespeare to Toni Morrison. You’ll read literature that helps you develop empathy and insight. In this major, you'll become an independent and critical thinker, skilled in the ways language can be used to mislead and inspire.

Through this program, you will become immersed in a rich array of textual forms, from the traditional (fiction, poetry, plays, essays, speeches) to the contemporary (visual rhetoric, new media, digital literacy).

The English major at St. John Fisher College offers students a lens through which to explore the world.  Through the study of literature and writing, our students encounter works of art from the past and present, imagine unfamiliar perspectives, and practice high-demand skills.  Students have the opportunity to pursue their own interests and develop new ones, while examining the roles of creativity, rhetoric and literary production in our ever-changing world.
